Ice Age

Ice Age

Ice ages are periods in Earth's history when sea ice or glaciers have covered a large portion of the planet's surface accompanied by significant cooling of the atmosphere. In the past, Earth has undergone several ice ages, each lasting tens of millions of years. Within a long ice age, there are multiple pulses of extreme cold, when ice cover increased, each followed by a period when the ice shrank.
