THE SUN- it is a huge ball of hot gases. Large enough to hold 1 million Earths inside. Solar means sun. Everything in our solar system revolves around the sun.

MERCURY


Closest to the sun. One side is hot and the other is cold. It has no moons. It is small and rocky.

VENUS


2nd closest planet to the sun. It is about the same size as Earth. It is the brightest and can been seen near the moon with the visible eye. It has no moons.

EARTH


It is the 3rd planet from the sun. It is our home, we only have one moon and it is made up of 75% water.

MARS


It is the 4th planet from the sun. It has volcanos. Mars has seasons similar to Earth but they last longer. It is red and has 2 moons.

THE INNER PLANETS


They are the first four planets closest to the sun. They are smaller, have no or few moons, and no rings

JUPITER


Is the 5th planet from the sun. It the largest planet and has a giant red spot on it.

SATURN


It is the 6th planet from the sun. It is famous for its rings.

It is a blueish green planet with 27 known moons. It rotates on its side. It is the 7th planet from the sun.

It is the 9th planet from the sun. It has four rings and 13 moons.

THE OUTER PLANETS


It is the last four planets. The 4 that are the farthest away from the sun. They are larger in size and have rings or many moons.
