The 1st stage of Cell Division.

 

  • Centrioles(2) move to opposite sides of the cell.
  • all the materials needed for division are made/acquired
  • Chromatin condenses into    
    •           Chromsomes-it becomes shorter and thicker
    DNA Replicates
    1. DNA untwists/unzips
    2. free nucleotides move in and pair
    3. two copies of DNA are present.

  • Nuclear membrane starts to break apart
  • Centrioles move to opposite sides of the cell
  • Spindle fibers start forming from the centrioles
  • Chromosomes become visible
